A decade after its founding, Shenzhen MSU-BIT University has emerged as a leading example of educational and cultural cooperation between China and Russia, fostering deeper understanding between young people from both countries through academic exchange and shared experiences.

Established in 2016 as a joint venture between Moscow State University and the Beijing Institute of Technology, the university has grown into one of China’s largest centres for Russian-language teaching. International students now account for 14 percent of its student population, with Russian students forming the majority.

Beyond classroom learning, students from both countries take part in joint research, cultural programmes and rural outreach projects across China, strengthening language skills and cross-cultural understanding through collaboration.

The university’s 10th anniversary coincides with the launch of the “China-Russia Years of Education” initiative for 2026 and 2027, as both countries seek to expand educational and people-to-people exchanges. The institution has also continued to deepen partnerships with Russian universities through academic cooperation and cultural events linked to the Belt and Road Initiative.
