Around 100 university students from China and the United States came together in south China's Guangdong Province from August 12 to 16 for a fencing tournament and people-to-people exchange camp.
The 2026 China-US College Fencing Invitational brought together students from 13 leading U.S. universities, including Harvard, Stanford, Yale and Princeton, alongside students from Chinese universities such as Sun Yat-sen University, Tsinghua University, Peking University and Beijing Sport University.
After two days of competition, champions were crowned in foil, sabre and epee, with mixed teams adding an element of cross-cultural collaboration.
Beyond the piste, participants toured Guangzhou and explored cultural and high-tech attractions in Shenzhen, deepening their understanding of each other's countries.
The event highlighted how sport can foster friendship, mutual respect and understanding among young people, offering a positive platform for China-US people-to-people exchanges.
