The Global Unicorn Summit was recently held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This marks Hong Kong's first premier event dedicated to global unicorns and hidden champions since China's 15th Five-Year Plan called for "cultivating unicorn enterprises."
The Summit serves as a key platform for high-level networking and investment matching among global unicorns, hidden champions, high-growth tech firms, and research institutions. Its goal is to attract unicorns to set up, list, and expand globally from Hong Kong, reinforcing the city's ambition to become an international I&T hub. This year's event zeroes in on AI, biopharma, and fintech, featuring forums, exhibitions, pitches, matchmaking, and competitions to accelerate tech commercialisation and foster cross-regional synergy in strategic emerging and future industries.
HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee highlighted that for mainland startups and unicorns, Hong Kong is the ultimate launchpad into global markets and a strategic node for supply chain resilience. For overseas tech leaders, it is the preferred gateway to the mainland and a prime entry point into China's growth story. As technology reshapes the landscape, Hong Kong must accelerate the growth of emerging industries, refine its innovation ecosystem, and develop new quality productive forces.
