[Green Highlights] New Offshore Wind Farm Advances Clean Energy Goals in GBA
: :

Construction has begun on one of China’s most ambitious offshore wind projects, located in the South China Sea off the coast of Hailing Island in Yangjiang, Guangdong. The installation of its first turbine marks the start of full-scale development of the 500-megawatt facility, a key step in advancing the Greater Bay Area’s transition to cleaner energy.

Developed by China Huadian Corporation, the wind farm will supply around 1.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, enough to power about 700,000 households, while significantly reducing coal use and carbon emissions.

Set 82 kilometres offshore and spanning 54 square kilometres, the project will deploy 31 advanced 16.2-megawatt turbines, the first of their kind in China. Equipped with intelligent monitoring systems and big data capabilities, the facility is expected to enhance efficiency, improve reliability, and deliver stronger long-term performance, reinforcing the region’s growing green energy momentum.
