A new star has taken centre stage at Hong Kong International Airport, where a 7-metre-tall Labubu greeted travellers with its trademark smile on Monday.

The spectacular figure, known as the “King Mon”, is the largest Labubu ever created. Wearing a white shirt stamped with “HKG” and perched on a globe of destinations, the playful traveller clutches a paper airplane to mark the start of its worldwide journey with THE MONSTERS.

To celebrate, local illustrator Kasing Lung has designed an exclusive 18 cm figurine, to be given away at the airport from September 25 to October 15. Airport Authority Executive Director Cissy Chan said she hoped the collaboration would showcase Hong Kong’s creative energy to the world.

Cantopop star Hins Cheung, a longtime Labubu fan, joined the unveiling and praised the airport showcase as a symbol of familiarity and kinship for all. With its joyful presence, Labubu is set to charm both locals and visitors as it takes off from Hong Kong in the near future.
