Visitors to Tai Kwun will have a chance to meet Shetland ponies this March as the heritage complex hosts a special event titled “Ponies on Parade”.

The programme draws inspiration from archival photographs from the 1890s showing horses once present on the grounds when the site served as a police and judicial compound. The event recreates that historical connection by bringing a group of gentle, family-friendly Shetland ponies to the courtyard beside the Barrack Block.

Visitors will be able to see the ponies up close and interact with them in a rare urban setting surrounded by Tai Kwun’s restored historic buildings. The event also includes themed photo props, allowing guests to capture memorable moments with the animals.

Suitable for visitors of all ages, the activity offers a light-hearted way to experience the site’s heritage while enjoying an unusual encounter with animals in the heart of the city.

“Ponies on Parade” will take place on 7–8 and 15 March 2026, with tickets available online or at the venue.
