The Hong Kong Museum of Art (HKMoA) has launched a major new exhibition spotlighting the breadth of contemporary Hong Kong art, as part of the city’s “Art March” programme.

Opening on March 20, “Live: Hong Kong Art Exhibition” brings together 19 artists whose practices reflect the city’s evolving creative landscape. Spanning painting, ink, ceramics, sculpture, video and multimedia, the show offers a wide-ranging look at both established figures and emerging voices.

Presented through four themes: Urban Stage, Landscape Reimagined, Virtual Reality and Transformation, the exhibition explores how Hong Kong artists navigate the space between Eastern and Western traditions, shaping a distinctive visual language rooted in the city’s culture and urban rhythm.

A companion section, “Live: Inspiration”, recreates studio environments to reveal artists’ creative processes, while a newly introduced open studio invites public interaction through residencies, workshops and talks.

Running until May 5, 2027, the free exhibition also features educational programmes aimed at broadening public engagement with contemporary art.
