[Tech Trends] Shenzhen Battery Exports Surge Amid Global Energy Demand
: :

Exports of lithium batteries and energy storage products from Shenzhen surged in the first quarter of 2026, highlighting the city’s growing role in the global clean energy supply chain.

At local energy storage manufacturers, fully automated production lines are operating at full capacity as overseas demand continues to climb. Orders for power supply systems, data centre storage solutions, and other energy products have expanded rapidly, with some companies reporting export growth of nearly 150 percent year-on-year in the first four months of 2026.

Demand began accelerating late last year and current overseas orders already extend through September. Companies are also upgrading products tailored for AI data centres to meet evolving global market needs.

Meanwhile, Dachan Bay Port recently handled its largest energy storage cabinet export shipment of the year, with more than 200 Shenzhen-made units bound for Chile. Export volumes in early May alone surpassed the total recorded from January to April, with major destinations including ASEAN markets, Europe, and South America.
