[Tech Trends] China’s Robot Industry Accelerates on Innovation and Real-World Use

China’s robotics industry is gaining momentum as technological advances, manufacturing capabilities and expanding real-world applications drive rapid growth across the sector.

Major robotics firms generated 165.5 billion yuan (about 24 billion U.S. dollars) in revenue in the first half of 2026, up 24.5 percent since last year. The country has also remained the world’s largest industrial robot market for 13 consecutive years, with robots now used across at least 71 major industries.

This expanding market is being supported by a highly developed robotics supply chain. In Shenzhen, companies can turn designs into 3D-printed robot prototypes in as little as 72 hours, while China has become the world’s largest holder of robot patents.

Meanwhile, embodied intelligence robots are moving into increasingly practical roles. Beijing is testing them in nearly 300 scenarios, including high-voltage power line work and equipment operations.

In June, authorities launched an initiative to identify more than 100 high-value applications and deploy 10,000 new humanoid and embodied intelligence robots, further accelerating their transition from demonstrations to everyday use.
