China is stepping up efforts to bring humanoid robots into everyday production and service environments, launching a nationwide initiative to accelerate the large-scale adoption of embodied intelligence technologies.
Unveiled jointly by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the 2026 action plan aims to expand real-world deployment and testing of humanoid robots across a wide range of sectors by the end of next year.
The plan targets the development of more than 100 high-value application scenarios and the deployment of tens of thousands of robots in industries such as manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, retail, catering, workplace safety, emergency response and disaster prevention.
To support this growth, China will build advanced training and testing platforms, develop more capable embodied AI models, and create high-quality real-world datasets. The initiative is also expected to strengthen industry collaboration, improve practical robotic skills, and speed up the transition of humanoid robots from laboratories to everyday use.
