China’s high-performance humanoid robot “Flash” is gearing up for the Second World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, where it will compete in the 100-meter, 400-meter and 1,500-meter races from Aug. 22 to 26.
The defending champion has already made headlines after completing the 2026 Beijing E-Town Half-Marathon in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, outperforming the human world record and rival robots from several countries.
Honor has upgraded Flash ahead of the Games, lengthening its legs to improve stride and using lighter materials to enhance both speed and endurance.
The robot will face demanding autonomous races that test its vision, decision-making and stability. Honor has recreated the official 100-meter track at its testing site, while adding visual recognition and radar systems to help Flash navigate the course.
With the team targeting a sub-10-second 100-meter sprint, Flash could set its sights on challenging Usain Bolt’s 9.58-second world record.
