As temperatures drop, ski resorts in Chongli – a former competition venue for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics – are gearing up for a lively new snow season. Enthusiasts dressed in professional gear are already carving through the silver slopes, relishing the thrill of winter sports.
“The snow here is high-quality... we come every year to have fun,” said one skier. This year, resorts have upgraded facilities and services, offering 42 diverse trails to suit everyone from daring speed chasers to relaxed leisure skiers.
Interest in professional training is also soaring, with the number of trainees nearly tripling, according to a local mountain sports academy. Ski gear stores and homestays are seeing surging demand too. “Many ski lovers from southern China have come early this year, so most of our rooms are booked,” said a vacation rental manager, as Chongli’s snowy season kicks off half a month ahead of schedule.
