[China Thrills] Qiantang River Welcomes First Catch After Ban

After a four-month fishing ban, the Qiantang River has welcomed its first batch of fresh catches. Weighing in at 1,500 kg, the abundant haul has delighted both fishermen and food lovers alike.

To celebrate the start of the fishing season, a special opening festival was held along the riverbank. Dozens of vendors lined the shore, drawing crowds eager to snag the season’s freshest fish. As soon as the catch was unloaded, the scene erupted into a lively frenzy, with buyers jostling for a chance at the prized first batch.

This year’s star catch? A massive 21.5 kg bighead carp, crowned the “King of the Catch.” But the real showstopper was a high-speed drone delivery—a new addition to the festival. Moments after the fish were packed, a drone zipped them to a restaurant 3 km away in just three minutes, ensuring diners enjoyed them at peak freshness.

The festivities didn’t stop there. A pop-up culinary zone featured top chefs whipping up creative river fish dishes on the spot, offering free samples that had the crowd buzzing. Many attendees raved about the chance to pick up cooking tips while indulging in delicious bites, making this year’s festival an unforgettable experience.
