[China Travelogue] Historic Chengde Mountain Resort Framed by Early Winter Snow
: :

In early winter, fresh snowfall settles across Chengde in north China’s Hebei province, covering the landscape in white. Within this wintry setting, the historic Mountain Resort stands out with a quiet, dignified presence.

Construction began in 1703 during the reign of the Kangxi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty. Also known as the Rehe Imperial Palace, the complex spans more than 580 hectares.

The site includes a palace area and a scenic garden area, with temples set among lakes, forests and open grasslands.

Blending architecture with nature, the resort reflects the principles of classical Chinese garden design.
