Guangzhou’s Canton Tower Theatre has teamed up with Japan’s Studio Ghibli to create an immersive walk-through experience inspired by the films of Hayao Miyazaki. The exhibition opens on December 25 and runs through October 8, 2026.
The theatre’s roughly 3,000-square-metre space will be divided into themed zones that recreate iconic settings with three-dimensional character models and multimedia interactions. Visitors can step into scenes from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, wander through Totoro’s forest, or stroll a day-and-night town inspired by Spirited Away, where an eight-metre-high model of the bathhouse will be on display.
The project marks Studio Ghibli’s 40th anniversary and represents a large-scale collaboration between a landmark tower venue and a major animation IP, aiming to deliver a multi-sensory experience for fans of all ages.
For families and longtime admirers, the show offers a chance to walk right into the worlds of the films and see beloved scenes brought to life.
