[GBA Thrills] Greater Bay Area Advances Innovation and Connectivity
: :

China’s Greater Bay Area (GBA) is accelerating its transformation into a world-class city cluster, as Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao deepen cooperation in innovation, infrastructure and emerging industries. Home to more than 87 million people, the region contributes nearly one-ninth of China’s economic output despite covering less than 0.6 percent of the country’s land area.

Sci-tech development continues to gather momentum, with researchers in Hong Kong recently using the GBA’s supercomputing capabilities to advance hypersonic technology research. The three regions are also jointly supporting major projects, including the GBA Quantum Science Center and new technology innovation platforms.

Advanced manufacturing remains a key strength, with the region hosting 11 global lighthouse factories and 19 national-level smart factories. Meanwhile, new industries such as flying cars, intelligent vehicles, robotics and the low-altitude economy are rapidly emerging.

At the same time, major transport links, airports and railways are enhancing connectivity, while cross-border public services and social insurance schemes are further integrating daily life across the GBA.
