Guangdong and Hong Kong have taken a further step towards making cross-boundary yacht travel more convenient, with new work arrangements signed on Monday, September 28 to facilitate individual yacht trips between the two places.
The arrangements, signed by the Maritime Safety Administration of Guangdong Province and the Marine Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, will pave the way for southbound yacht travel from Guangdong to Hong Kong.
When northbound yacht travel from Hong Kong was launched, the Marine Department had already set up examination centres in Nansha, Guangdong, allowing mainland captains to take examinations on Hong Kong waters without travelling to Hong Kong, Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan said.
The two sides will strengthen coordination ahead of the planned launch of southbound yacht travel in October, further enhancing water-based connectivity and supporting cross-boundary leisure consumption across the Greater Bay Area.
