[GBA Thrills] Hong Kong Charts Future with First Five-Year Plan
: :

Hong Kong is charting a new chapter in its development with its first-ever Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development (2026–2030), a blueprint designed to strengthen the city's long-term growth and deepen its integration into the country's overall development.

Currently under public consultation until 14 August, the plan outlines priorities spanning innovation and technology, finance, education, housing and elderly care, while advancing the Northern Metropolis and closer cooperation within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.

Legislative Council President Starry Lee Wai-king said the plan will provide a clear, strategic framework that builds on Hong Kong's strengths under "one country, two systems" while aligning with the national 15th Five-Year Plan.

To support its implementation, all LegCo members will visit Beijing later this month to gain deeper insights into national development. Lee also highlighted the reconstructed Huanggang Port, where a new clearance model is expected to cut average crossing times from around 30 minutes to about five minutes, further strengthening regional connectivity.
