Macao has unveiled its third five-year plan for 2026-2030, setting an ambitious target for non-gambling industries to contribute around 60 percent of GDP by 2030.
The 150-page blueprint identifies four strategic priorities, including economic diversification, deeper Macao-Hengqin integration, urban renewal and stronger regional cooperation.
The government plans to invest 130 billion patacas (US$16.1 billion) over the next five years in four major projects, including the Macao-Hengqin International Education (University) Town, Macao Technology Research Industrial Park and an integrated tourism and cultural zone.
The plan also aims to strengthen connections with the Greater Bay Area and Hong Kong, while expanding Macao’s role as a platform linking China with Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking countries.
Eight key development goals and 35 economic and social indicators will guide implementation, with stronger cross-department coordination supporting delivery.
