Guangzhou has unveiled China's first intangible cultural heritage art museum dedicated to the Mamianqun (horse-face skirt). The opening ceremony was attended by consuls general from seven countries, including the Philippines, Argentina, and Laos, highlighting the growing international appeal of this traditional Chinese attire.

Spanning 3,000 square meters, the museum houses more than 1,000 artifacts, including over 300 horse-face skirts, tracing the evolution of Chinese dress from the Ming and Qing dynasties to the Republican era. The collection, sourced from auctions, antique markets, and private collections, features a standout orange skirt recovered by master inheritor Lin Qi at a Paris auction. The skirt traveled more than 30,000 kilometers and took six months to return to China.

Beyond its exhibitions, the museum offers hands-on workshops in natural plant dyeing, intangible cultural heritage embroidery, and traditional costume making, allowing visitors to experience the craft firsthand. Looking ahead, it aims to become a vibrant cultural hub and a new Lingnan landmark, promoting the living heritage of traditional Chinese dress and craftsmanship.
