During an official visit to China this week, Brunei Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah explored the southern tech hub of Shenzhen, gaining firsthand insight into the country’s rapid scientific and technological development. Invited by Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, the crown prince led a delegation to a robotics company, where they observed humanoid robots being used in education, exhibitions and industrial production.

The visit also highlighted Shenzhen’s family-friendly urban development. Members of the royal family toured the Shenzhen Women and Children’s Center, where the crown prince’s children experienced immersive virtual reality activities, interactive sports games and robot performances alongside local children. The family also purchased a robotic dog as a souvenir from the trip.

Marking the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Brunei this year, the visit underscored growing exchanges between the two countries in areas including energy, agriculture, education and sports.
