With just two weeks to go, excitement is building for the International Hot Air Balloon Festival, set to take flight from September 4 to 7. Organisers have already started preparations, including test flights of their iconic panda-shaped balloon, a signature highlight of the festival.

“Hot air balloons are a symbol of happiness, and we hope to bring this joy to everyone,” said Joey Chan, COO of Grand Event Asia. She added that discussions are underway with cities in the Greater Bay Area and Shanghai to introduce hot air balloons and develop a low-altitude economy, while also boosting Hong Kong’s local economy.

Safety remains a top priority. Eric Chan, CEO of IP&E GBA Limited, the event’s fuel supplier, confirmed that all necessary licenses are being secured in collaboration with the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department. Liquefied petroleum gas storage will be kept safely away from the public, with qualified engineers on-site to ensure a smooth and secure festival experience.

The stage is set for a vibrant, sky-high celebration that promises fun, colour, and excitement for all ages!
