The countdown is on with just 100 days remaining until the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympics, the nation’s highest-level multi-sport events for athletes with disabilities. A record 9,735 athletes will take part across the Greater Bay Area, with 8,565 competing in Guangdong, 733 in Hong Kong, and 437 in Macao.
Hong Kong will host four competitions – boccia, wheelchair fencing, para table tennis, and Special Olympics table tennis, alongside a mass para dance sport showcase. Events will be staged at Kai Tak Sports Park Gymnasium, Ma On Shan Sports Centre, and Tsuen Wan Sports Centre, each upgraded to meet international standards.
Organisers say preparations are now in their “final sprint phase”, with local teams working alongside mainland experts. Adding a splash of colour, two mascots based on the Chinese white dolphin will be available to greet the public, symbolising joy, unity, and inclusivity throughout the Games.
