Hong Kong’s first UNESCO-awarded hotel, Tai O Heritage Hotel, has launched the inaugural Tai O Night Boat Parade for this Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day. Co-hosted with the Tai O Cultural Association, the festivities will run on weekends and public holidays until 12 October 2025, bringing fresh vibrancy to the city’s iconic fishing village.
Visitors will step aboard traditional sampans, once the lifeline of Tai O, and learn about the community’s maritime heritage directly from the oarsmen. Adding to the celebration is Impression of Tai O – Fisherman and Lantern, the village’s riverside interactive multisensory showcase. Through glowing lanterns and striking silhouettes, the experience captures the rhythm of daily life by the water.
Organisers note that the sampans once carried more than passengers, they embodied the livelihoods, memories, and spirit of the village. The Night Boat Parade is designed to rekindle those connections, offering visitors a living glimpse into Tai O’s cultural soul.
