Hong Kong’s beloved Bar Leone has been crowned the World’s Best Bar 2025, marking the first time an Asian bar has claimed the top spot in the awards’ 17-year history. The neighbourhood-style bar, led by Roman-born bartender Lorenzo Antinori, rose from second place last year to take the number one position, just two years after opening.
Known for its ‘cocktails for the people’, Italian-inspired classics, mortadella sandwiches, and a warm, communal spirit inspired by everyday Roman bars, Bar Leone has quickly become a symbol of heartfelt hospitality and craftsmanship.
This milestone win came as Hong Kong hosted The World’s 50 Best Bars ceremony for the first time – only the second time the event has ever been held in Asia. “It’s a dream come true. Proof that simplicity, community, and joy still matter most,” Antinori said, celebrating a defining moment for both his team and Asia’s bar scene.
