[HK Thrills] Art and Water Intersect in New Oil Street Exhibitions
: :

Two new exhibitions at Oil Street Art Space (Oi!) are exploring water as a creative starting point, inviting visitors into immersive environments shaped by sound, light and movement.

Part of the annual “Oi! Spotlight” programme, the shows feature mainland artist Zheng Jing and Hong Kong artist Chan Wai-lap, each presenting a distinct interpretation of fluid, non-solid media.

Zheng’s exhibition transforms the Oi! warehouses into sensory installations. Drawing on urban sounds such as tram bells and street markets, his works combine reflections, light and audio to evoke shifting perceptions of time and space. Sculptural pieces on the lawn, inspired by traditional Taihu stones, incorporate subtle movement to suggest a continuous flow of energy.

At Oi! Glassie, Chan’s “Jeremy’s Bathhouse” reimagines bathing culture through an interactive installation built from handcrafted ceramic tiles. Visitors can step into the space, where mist, texture and form create a changing atmosphere that reflects themes of shared experience.

Both exhibitions open on March 19 and run through late summer and autumn, with free admission.
