Hong Kong will host the Kerry Fencing World Championships for the first time from July 22 to 30, welcoming 1,460 athletes from 114 nations to AsiaWorld-Expo for one of the sport's biggest events outside the Olympics.

More than 50,000 spectators are expected to attend the nine-day competition, which features 12 individual and team events across foil, épée and sabre.

The championships mark Hong Kong's first major international event across all three weapons since the 2017 Asian Fencing Championships. The city has emerged as a fencing powerhouse in recent years, driven by the success of Olympic champions Edgar Cheung Ka-long and Vivian Kong Man-wai, along with reigning men's foil world champion Ryan Choi Chun-yin.

Cheung will bid for his first World Championships medal on home soil, while Choi returns to defend the men's individual foil title he won last year. Hong Kong's 24-member squad will also feature world No.13 épée fencer Kaylin Hsieh Sin-yan.
