A vibrant makeover is on the horizon for Lan Kwai Fong, as Hong Kong unveils a two-phase plan to enhance the look and feel of its iconic dining and nightlife hub in Central.
Spanning roughly three hectares from the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator to Wyndham Street, the first phase, set to begin as early as next month, will introduce a series of visual and functional upgrades. These include refreshed paving across key streets, new murals along Wing Wah Lane, and striking light-and-shadow projections on D’Aguilar Street’s stone walls. Improvements to public facilities, such as upgraded refuse collection points and decorative drainage covers, are also planned.
The second phase will focus on community engagement, with stakeholders invited to help shape future design themes.
The Lan Kwai Fong Association has welcomed the initiative, pledging support for mural projects and collaborations with artists to create a lively, photo-worthy district that brings renewed energy to Central’s retail and dining scene.
