Award-winning Spanish dance company Aracaladanza Compañía is bringing its imaginative family production “PLAY” to Hong Kong this August as part of the International Arts Carnival.
Transforming Yuen Long Theatre into a giant playground, the performance reimagines everyday games and toys through dance. Audiences can expect swan-shaped floaties performing “Swan Lake”, oversized pillows in an epic pillow fight, giant cat's cradles creating ever-changing patterns, and a playful troupe of fluffy dogs tap dancing across the stage.
Designed to celebrate the joy of play, “PLAY” won Best Costume Design, Best Lighting Design and Best Original Score at Spain's 2020 MAX Awards, where it was also a finalist for Best Family Show.
The show runs on August 8 and 9, with a post-show meet-the-artist session following the August 9 matinee. Parent-child dance workshops on August 9 will also invite families to explore movement through games, improvisation and creative play.
