[Inno & Tech] Tech-Empowered Hiking: Exoskeleton Robots Enhance Cultural Tourism Experience

Nestled in Xiuning County, Huangshan, Anhui Province, Qiyun Mountain is famed for its Danxia landforms and cliff carvings, drawing hikers from across the country. Yet its long winding trails and steep inclines often put off older visitors and people with limited mobility. Working with technology partners, the scenic area introduced exoskeleton robots developed by TechniK March during the 2026 Spring Festival. More than 20 units are now available for visitors to rent or test out.

Equipped with high-precision sensors, the devices detect shifts in the wearer’s center of gravity and movement patterns in real time. They deliver power assistance on uphill climbs and ease knee strain on descents, with support that kicks in seamlessly in sync with natural body movements. Lightweight and simple to operate, they significantly cut leg fatigue during hikes. The scenic area also offers a free 10-minute trial for all visitors.

A scenic area representative said the team will actively adopt and fully back any initiative that improves visitor experiences and elevates the destination’s offerings — from advanced tech devices and local cultural merchandise to immersive visitor activities.
