The 2026 World Manufacturing Convention in Hefei, east China’s Anhui Province, is showcasing the breadth of China’s manufacturing capabilities, from complete industrial chains to frontier technologies and intelligent production.

The four-day event, which opened Sunday, has attracted industry professionals from more than 50 countries and regions, with over 900 companies displaying more than 10,000 exhibits.

Rather than focusing on individual products, the exhibition demonstrates entire production systems. Smart mining equipment covers the full process from tunnelling to extraction, while the new-energy vehicle section brings together chips, power batteries, wire-controlled chassis and complete vehicles.

The convention also features breakthroughs including a 180-qubit superconducting quantum processor, a photon-counting CT scanner and fifth-generation DRAM technology, reflecting the growing role of advanced technologies in upgrading traditional industries.

That transformation is also being accelerated by AI. In the first half of 2026, AI applications reached 34.2 percent of key manufacturing scenarios, while more than 56,000 basic-level smart factories had been built nationwide.
