VELLINK, China’s first embodied AI digital metro train developed by CRRC Changchun, officially debuted at the 15th InnoTrans Berlin International Railway Technology Exhibition, marking the world’s first application of embodied AI on a metro train.
The train upgrades operations from passive execution to proactive optimization via a full-area sensor network, in-house AI algorithms and high-speed communications. It pioneers a functional domain design to merge three core systems, cutting main control units by 50% and optimizing onboard wiring harness by 30%.
Scaling up lightweight materials like carbon fiber and magnesium-aluminum alloys, the train cuts overall weight by 18%. It also features permanent magnet traction and silicon carbide converters, lifting energy efficiency by over 10% and reducing full-lifecycle carbon emissions by 15%.
Design upgrades include a 40% larger transparent window area, 14% higher passenger capacity, and 3-decibel lower operating noise. VELLINK’s launch delivers a Chinese solution for the green and smart transformation of global rail transit.
