A pioneering training facility in Mianyang, southwest China’s Sichuan Province, is preparing embodied AI robots to enter industries from manufacturing and healthcare to urban management and emergency response. The Sichuan Embodied Intelligence Robot Training Base integrates research, testing, standard-setting, and commercialisation, accelerating robotic learning and capability upgrades.
“The training programs cover a dozen scenarios… providing hands-on instruction to help them acquire more skills,” said technical director Zhang Chenchen. Visitors from diverse sectors have flocked to see the robots in action, with some already placing orders for applications like code-scanning, labelling, and material handling.
Brand manager Zhu Yanchen highlighted supportive national and local AI policies, noting robots are being prepared for deployment in factories, communities, and shopping malls. China’s robotics industry, boosted by AI and large language models, is transitioning rapidly from lab research to mass production, with the humanoid robot market projected to reach $122 billion U.S. dollars by 2030.
