Shanghai-based robotics firm AgiBot has launched a major ecosystem-building initiative in Hong Kong, marking a significant step in the city’s ambitions to become a global hub for embodied AI development.
Unveiled at the AgiBot Partner Conference 2026 Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Embodied AI Industry Co-Creation Initiative brings together the SAR government, universities and research institutions to strengthen collaboration across the sector. As part of the plan, AgiBot will establish an international research and development headquarters in Hong Kong and set up joint laboratories with local academic partners.
The company also pledged to support dozens of Hong Kong embodied AI start-ups over the next five years through its venture investment programme alongside leading international venture capital firms.
AgiBot founder and chairman Deng Taihua said the initiative aims to generate hundreds of billions of yuan in industry revenue and help build a trillion-yuan embodied AI sector in the long term. He added that the company is now accelerating the real-world deployment of AI-powered robotics applications, including industrial cleaning and logistics sorting solutions, in Hong Kong.
