A solar module production base in Huadu District, Guangzhou, has produced its three-millionth BC module, making it the world’s third photovoltaic manufacturer to achieve mass production of back-contact (BC) modules.
BC modules combine high efficiency with a sleek all-black appearance, making them ideal for distributed photovoltaic systems and commercial rooftops. Modules produced at the base have previously been used as core components in deep-sea energy extraction projects for the 15th National Games and the National Paralympics. From its first trial production in June 2025 to the rollout of its three-millionth unit, the base achieved large-scale production in just 11 months.
The facility now produces one module every 15 seconds. One out of every seven silicon wafers produced worldwide comes from the base. According to the plant manager, with 80% of global photovoltaic panel production capacity concentrated in China, the company will continue upgrading its production lines to drive further growth in the photovoltaic industry.
