The eVTOL sector is showcasing its latest technologies in Shenzhen as manufacturers explore new applications for low-altitude flight.

More than 300 exhibitors presented electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft at the two-day 2026 Future Air Traffic and eVTOL Aircraft Innovation Conference, which opened Wednesday, September 16, in south China's Guangdong Province.

The exhibits spanned single-person commuting, multi-passenger transport, heavy-lift logistics and land-air vehicles, alongside advances in power systems and aerodynamics aimed at extending flight endurance and improving safety.

The exhibition also highlighted technologies supporting the broader low-altitude economy, including electric drive systems, aviation energy storage, flight controls, structural materials and emergency locator transmitters.

Research institutions including the Harbin Institute of Technology and the Shenzhen Research Institute of Beihang University showcased work to strengthen industry-academia-research links and speed up commercialisation.
