A cross border logistics hub linking Dongguan with Hong Kong International Airport is rapidly emerging as a key driver of regional trade, recording strong growth since launching in 2023. Located in the Humen Port Comprehensive Bonded Area, the Dongguan-Hong Kong International Airport Logistics Park has handled more than 65 billion yuan in imports and exports over the past three years, with an average annual growth rate of 217 percent. The facility now serves over 2,000 businesses and manages goods across more than 1,500 categories. Its innovative sea-air model shifts key airport processes such as security screening and cargo consolidation to Dongguan, allowing goods to move seamlessly to Hong Kong and be loaded directly onto aircraft without repeated checks. The streamlined system significantly improves efficiency for manufacturers, reinforcing Hong Kong’s role as a global air cargo hub. In 2025, the airport handled over 5 million tonnes, maintaining its position as the world’s busiest cargo airport.
