South China’s Huangpu Comprehensive Bonded Zone is accelerating trade and industrial innovation with a series of pioneering initiatives that are reshaping logistics and supply chain operations. The zone has introduced the country’s first intelligent customs clearance system for drone logistics, allowing goods to move more efficiently between production sites, customs facilities and distribution hubs. By bypassing road congestion, drone transport significantly shortens delivery times while reducing operating costs. Huangpu has also launched south China’s first bonded warehousing project for imported live aquatic products. The facility can store up to 20 tonnes of king crabs in specialised holding tanks, enabling businesses to keep products in bonded storage until orders are confirmed. The model supports faster deliveries and is expected to generate substantial savings for participating companies. Building on these advances, the zone recently unveiled China’s first bonded maintenance and re-manufacturing programme, further expanding its role as a hub for industrial upgrading, smart logistics and high-quality trade development.
