China is placing advanced technologies at the centre of its future growth strategy, with artificial intelligence, autonomous mobility and humanoid robotics highlighted during this year’s “Two Sessions” meetings of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
Officials say AI will be deeply integrated into manufacturing and other industries through the country’s “AI Plus” initiative, encouraging large-scale commercial use across key sectors. Plans include building ultra-large intelligent computing clusters, improving coordination of computing power nationwide and accelerating satellite internet development.
China is also pushing the development of AI-powered consumer technologies such as smart homes, AI computers and intelligent vehicles. The country’s core AI industry exceeded US$170 billion in 2025 and now includes more than 6,200 related companies.
Emerging technologies are also gaining momentum. Autonomous driving is moving toward higher-level systems, while humanoid robots are drawing attention for their potential in industrial and commercial settings. Meanwhile, the rapidly developing low-altitude economy, including flying vehicles, is being explored as another frontier for innovation.
