The Badaling section of the Great Wall in Beijing is preparing to welcome visitors with special evening tours during the upcoming Spring Festival holiday, offering a festive new way to experience the iconic landmark.

Following a successful rehearsal, the UNESCO World Heritage Site will open at night on selected dates, allowing visitors to explore the ancient walls illuminated by more than 1,000 lanterns. The scenic area in Yanqing District will also stage a series of traditional intangible cultural heritage performances, including vibrant dragon and lion dances, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

The evening tours will run between February 16 and 22, aligning with the peak holiday period. Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, falls on February 17 this year and is marked by a nine-day public holiday, when families travel, students enjoy winter break, and cultural celebrations take centre stage across the country.
