At Dongping National Forest Park in Shanghai, staff have wrapped tree trunks and lower branches in bright knitted coverings, turning the winter landscape into a cheerful, photo-ready scene. The colorful yarn ranges from vivid yellow and soft lilac to mint green, and visitors have been stopping to take pictures.
Up close, each knitted "sweater" has its own character. Some pieces feature playful smiley faces; others have stitched eyes, and a few even include arm-like extensions that invite passersby to interact and pose for photos. The layered textures and the slope of the plantings create strong visual depth in photographs.
Park officials say the coverings help insulate the trees and reduce frost damage while adding creative beautification to the grounds. With Chinese New Year in full swing, the park plans additional festive displays, aiming to keep the atmosphere warm and welcoming for visitors.
