Step into the shadows and thrills of Hong Kong cinema with Tai Kwun’s ‘Undercover Underworld’ exhibition. Few film cultures in the world capture the drama of undercover lives quite like Hong Kong’s, where agents move between justice and crime, light and darkness, reality and fiction.
The heritage and arts hub Tai Kwun is bringing this iconic genre to life through ‘Undercover Underworld’, co-curated by director Sunny Chan Wing-san and CUHK’s Kristof Van den Troost. The exhibition recreates unforgettable moments from classics including Man on the Brink (1981), City on Fire (1987), Hard Boiled (1992), and the legendary Infernal Affairs (2002). From the blazing tea house shootout to tense therapy-room confessions, every scene immerses visitors in cinematic tension.
Beyond the spectacle, visitors can explore exclusive interviews with award-winning filmmakers and actors, as well as real undercover agents and psychologists, uncovering where fact meets fable in one of Hong Kong’s most electrifying film traditions.
