To mark its 25th anniversary, the Hong Kong Film Archive (HKFA) is presenting the exhibition “Hong Kong Film Archive Stories: Treasure Hunting for 25 Years” at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum from June 3 to March 29 next year. Featuring nearly 1,000 artefacts, including more than 100 items on public display for the first time, the exhibition celebrates the rich legacy of Hong Kong cinema and the HKFA’s longstanding efforts to preserve its cultural heritage.
Visitors can explore rare film memorabilia, historic photographs, classic costumes, prestigious international awards, and oral history recordings that trace the evolution of the city’s film industry. Highlights include the diary of film pioneer Lai Man-wai, early film trailers, and costumes worn by legendary stars such as Li Lihua, Betty Loh Ti and Zhang Ziyi.
Interactive installations, filmmaker tributes and free screenings of eight restored Hong Kong classics further enrich the experience, offering audiences an engaging journey through more than a century of Hong Kong cinematic history.
