The final full-scale rehearsal for the grand opening ceremony of the 15th National Games took place in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, on Tuesday (Nov 4), setting an exciting tone for the Games that will be held from November 9 to 21.

Co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, the ceremony embraces the theme “Realising Dreams for the Future”, presented in three chapters: Shared Roots, Shared Bonds, and Shared Dreams. The performance weaves together Lingnan lion dance, dragon boat racing, and Chinese war dance with cutting-edge technologies such as AI, virtual reality, and robotics, offering a fusion of heritage and innovation.

Chief scriptwriter Qiao Wei explained, “The first chapter talks about the origins, or our long-running civilisation… The second chapter speaks of nostalgia and sentiments toward the shared homeland… The third chapter looks to the future where all of us unite our hearts and minds.”

This year’s Games will showcase 34 sports, 419 events, and 23 non-professional activities across 105 venues, celebrating both athletic excellence and cultural unity.
