Traffic on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge surged to a new high over the Easter holiday, underscoring growing cross-border mobility in the Greater Bay Area.
On Easter Monday, nearly 30,000 vehicles were processed at the Zhuhai port, marking the bridge’s busiest day since opening. Passenger cars made up the vast majority, while vehicles using Hong Kong or Macau single-licence plates also hit a record, reflecting the rising popularity of self-drive travel between the mainland and the two Special Administrative Regions.
Over the combined Easter and Qingming Festival break from 4 to 6 April, more than 77,000 vehicles crossed via the Zhuhai port, with single-plate vehicles accounting for over 70 percent.
Authorities responded by activating contingency measures and enhancing coordination, as further policy easing for vehicles entering the mainland is expected to sustain the upward trend.
