[GBA Thrills] Micro-Drama Surge: Guangzhou Sets Up Support Hub
: :

Short-form micro-dramas have quickly emerged as a new program format in recent years. With simpler themes and shorter episodes—often just a few minutes long—they fit easily into the busy, fragmented lives of urban viewers and have become a popular form of entertainment. Guangzhou is actively engaging in this emerging sector by establishing a micro-drama service center to support the comprehensive and high-quality development of the local micro-drama industry.

The service center will provide guidance on filing, filming, production, and distribution for local micro-dramas. It will assist producers in reviewing scripts, vetting finished episodes, and connecting with micro-drama companies across Greater Bay Area cities, forming a complete, efficient, and cost-effective industrial chain to boost both the quantity and quality of micro-dramas in the region.

Data shows that around 1,700 micro-dramas are released daily in China. The service center will help producers streamline the entire process, reducing the time from production to release to within one month, thereby enhancing their competitiveness. Meanwhile, it will guide the creation of high-quality micro-dramas that tell compelling stories of Guangzhou and the Greater Bay Area, promoting Chinese culture globally.
