[GBA Thrills] Zhuhai Airport’s T2 Terminal: Greater Bay Area’s New Aviation Hub
: :

The Zhuhai Airport T2 Terminal, a key project in Guangdong Province, has recently been completed. Dubbed the “Bay Wing,” this landmark structure is expected to significantly increase the airport’s annual passenger capacity from the current 12 million to 27.5 million once it becomes operational.

Located in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the T2 terminal is a major transportation infrastructure project aimed at enhancing regional connectivity. Shaped like a “T,” the main building features a large-span structural design and a curved glass curtain wall system. The steel-grid roof, spanning more than 65,000 square meters, was installed using a block-lifting technique capable of achieving millimeter-level precision, meeting internationally advanced standards. The overall design evokes the coastal imagery of “silver shells amid azure waves.”

Once in service, the terminal will effectively ease passenger overflow from the international aviation hubs of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong, while creating smoother air connections between the western Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong, Macao, and the rest of the world. It will also further strengthen Zhuhai’s role as an integrated “sea-land-air-rail” transportation hub.
