The redeveloped Huanggang Port connecting Shenzhen and Hong Kong began operations at 6:30 am on October 12, offering round-the-clock clearance services for passengers and passenger vehicles.
Spanning 689,700 square metres, the port is the world's largest single-building land port, with five above-ground floors and four underground levels.
Designed to handle 200,000 passenger trips daily, the facility features 134 self-service channels and 68 manual counters for passengers, alongside 28 inspection channels for passenger vehicles. The new arrangements are expected to cut overall clearance time from around 30 minutes to approximately five minutes, making cross-boundary travel faster and more convenient.
An opening ceremony was held in Shenzhen on Sunday, October 11, to mark the launch of the upgraded facility, the only 24-hour passenger land boundary control point between the two cities.
It adopts a co-location arrangement and a joint inspection system, enabling registered travellers to complete immigration procedures for both sides in a single inspection.
