The Mandarin pronunciation of “520” sounds similar to “I love you,” making May 20 a popular date for couples in mainland China to tie the knot. Across Guangzhou’s districts, a variety of themed group weddings were held to celebrate newlyweds and fill the city with joy.
In Haizhu District, a group wedding ceremony took place on the 107th floor of Canton Tower, where eight couples exchanged vows high above the clouds overlooking the Pearl River. In Liwan District, 30 couples participated in a traditional Cantonese wedding ceremony led by a “Dajin Jie” (a professional wedding matron) at the Bai’etan Art Center Pier before enjoying a romantic Pearl River night cruise. In Yuexiu District, a luxury hotel opened its grand lawn for Western-style vow exchanges. In Baiyun District, a large automobile mall brought together several car brands to form a magnificent wedding motorcade, escorting eight couples to a scenic art district for their ceremony.
These unique outdoor wedding registration venues are expected to become regular event locations, giving couples more creative options to celebrate their special day and create lasting memories.
