[GBA Thrills] Ink Art Exhibition Brings Illusory Landscapes to Dongguan
: :

The fifth and final exhibition in the Greater Bay Area’s “Ink Art Ensembles” Exhibition Series, Illusory Landscapes, is now open at Dongguan’s Guancheng Art Museum, bringing together contemporary interpretations of traditional ink art by Hong Kong artist Barbara Choi and Greater Bay Area artist Wen Qiuwen.

Blending painting, animation and installation art, the exhibition explores themes of illusion, perception and renewal. Choi reimagines familiar Hong Kong landmarks, including the Yau Ma Tei Wholesale Fruit Market and Prince Edward Flower Market, within classical blue-and-green landscape compositions. Incorporating AI-generated details for the first time, she extends her ink paintings into immersive animated narratives.

Meanwhile, Wen combines traditional paper sculpture, lantern-making techniques, light and mirrored surfaces to create dreamlike installations that blur the boundaries between reality and imagination. The artists also collaborate on a striking joint work that merges floating sculptural landscapes with projected animation.

The exhibition runs until July 12 and admission is free.
